Welcome!
The Logan Southern Rail System (LSRS) is devoted to the shipping coal, general
merchandise, and intermodal traffic all over Ohio. The LSRS is
also a member of the Appalachian Rail Cooperative, made up of many large and small railroads
spanning from Lake Erie to the Chesapeake Bay.
On March 1, 1987, the LSRS was formed by several investors purchasing the former
Chesapeake & Ohio Athens Subdivision. Since the goal of the investors was to
push the railroad south,
it was only appropriate to name it the Logan Southern Rail
System. As a result, the LSRS has become a profitable railroad,
serving many industries along its lines. The LSRS, due to size and traffic
moving across the system, has earned the rank of Regional. Please read the
history of the Logan Southern here, to find out more.
